MICHELIN STAR

Restaurant Sat Bains, Nottinghamshire’s only Michelin Starred Restaurant is displaying two new works by Lewis Noble in the main dining room. Sat’s extraordinary restaurant a has just scored 5/5 in a recent review in the Daily Telegraph  Jasper Gerard writes that Sat ‘has mastered modern French cooking and flipped it on its head. Simply, he is the most wildly inventive chef to emerge from Britain since Heston Blumenthal.’ (read full article)

Lewis and Sat have a long association going back 10 years and enjoy the collaboration of exquisite dining and fine art,  viewing the collaboration as blend of sensations which make for an exceptional experience when visiting the restaurant.

The two new works on show are a pair of dramatic,  large scale oil paintings titled Floodgates i & ii. Lewis, a landscape artist made them in response the the flooding experienced locally by many in recent  months and years. He says of these paintings (which make highly effective use of pair of salvaged gates), that they are ‘an embodiment of the awesome power of the natural world. Beautiful and fascinating, we can tame it in many ways but in the end it will always have the upper hand and a power over life and death which we are powerless against.’

Anyone wishing to view the paintings can do so by appointment info@lewisnoble.co.uk. Or of course by booking a table at what  Jasper Gerard describes  as ‘my finest discovery of the year.’

Lewis Noble is represented by The Hart Gallery, London.

In his introduction to the exhibition catalogue The Duke of Devonshire writes; ‘I am delighted that a thoughtful and contemporary artist such as Lewis Noble should have wanted to devote a whole year of his working life to painting in and around the Estate. His work will add a new layer to the impressions of Chatsworth that have built up over 400 years, and which themselves shape the way the place is imagined.’
