LEWIS NOBLE ‘IN A LANDSCAPE’ 7th – 29th June 2014

7th – 29th June 2014

The new exhibition by LEWIS NOBLE starts next week Saturday 7th June at The Campden Gallery .

‘In a Landscape’ is the culmination of a major project by the artist depicting his highly personal view of the landscape of the Southern Peak District.

The work, painted mainly in oil and mixed media on canvas sounds traditional in its approach but is far from it. His experimental and intuitive use of paint serves to carve out images of the landscape that, while recognisable, are far more than just pictures and seem to stand in for the land itself. Through a process of layering and eroding, he makes images that are as timeless as his chosen subject.

Full colour catalogue and price list is now available on request .

Prominently situated in what historian and author G.M. Trevelyan once described as “the most beautiful village now left in the island”, Campden Gallery opened in 2003 to showcase a varied range of high quality contemporary art.

Housed within a beautifully preserved 300 year old limestone building in the centre of the town, nestled in the depths of quintessential English countryside, the gallery features an eclectic programme, throughout the year of solo and group exhibitions by established British and mainland European painters and sculptors and provides young, emerging, talented artists with an opportunity to show and promote their work.
