Online Workshop F.A.Q.

Do I have to paint really big paintings?

No. Big can mean different things to different people. For many a 2ft (60cms) square painting is plenty big enough and that’s absolutely fine. The ideas & processes in this course can apply to smaller work too. It’s all about creativity and having an experimental approach to your painting.

I’m not in your time zone. Can I still do the workshop?

YES! I design the workshops so they work no matter the time zone. I always have a lot of participants from all over the world.

How does the workshop…. work?

Online workshops run over 2-3 weeks depending on the course. During this period you will receive personal feedback and advice on all your work from me. I do not have a team of helpers. So be assured, if you get advice on your paintings, it is from me!

What are the tutorial videos?

Workshops are based around a series of pre-recorded tutorial videos. The format is, you watch the tutorials and make work in response at your own pace.

How do I send you my paintings to look at?

Once you’ve made some work you can upload photos of your paintings at every stage to the private group so I can see it and provide feedback and advice.

What is the community group?

It’s a Private Facebook Group (I know not everyone likes FB, I get that!) but this is where we build a real sense of community and it works very well for this. So you’ll also be able to see everyone else’s work and read my comments. I aim to respond to every post you make. If you’re nervous about using Facebook, let me know, I have a couple of suggestions.

If I don’t finish the course straight away, how long can I watch the tutorials?

The tutorials stay available for you to watch for 12 months.

How do the LIVE Zooms work?

There are LIVE Q&A sessions on ZOOM each week throughout the workshop. The world’s a big place but I try to do the Q&As at a time that works for the most people. This is usually Saturdays at 7pm UK.

What happens if I can’t watch the Q&A live?

No problem! I do record these sessions as they happen and add them to the course to watch again or if you miss them.

What are the Q&As about?

Anything you wish. Questions are posted for these sessions in advance on the group and I try to answer as many as possible. These are Q&A sessions NOT teaching or demos.

HOW DO ONLINE WORKSHOPS DIFFER FROM THE MEMBERSHIP GROUP?

The Workshops differ to the group in 2 main ways, Personal Feedback and Structure
During the workshop you will get individual feedback on on all your work. I will be there each day providing feedback and advice as you go along. You can also ask me questions and get help throughout the course.
The workshop is a structured course. You will be guided through a working practice in a series of pre-recorded video demos designed to help you be more creative with your work, building ideas and compositions to make more exciting paintings.
